The AmEx offer of $100 Free Credit at Saks starts July 1, 2018 but you have to register to get this card benefit. American Express and Saks Fifth Avenue announced this new benefit, called “Shop Saks with Platinum.” Starting July 1, 2018, enrolled U.S. Platinum Card Members will be able to get up to $100 in statement credits annually (up to $50 available semiannually) for purchases made at Saks Fifth Avenue, using their Platinum Card. This benefit requires that you register so after July 1, 2018 you will have to log into your AmEx Platinum card and go to the reward/benefit page and register for the program.
After you are registered you will get a $50 credit for purchases made at Saks Fifth Avenue stores or the Saks website when you use your AmEx Platinum card for your purchase.

In past articles we have recommended the AmEx Platinum because of it’s long list of benefits. The AmEx Platinum is a hard sell because of it’s $450 annual fee but this new “Shop Saks with Platinum” program makes that $450 pill a lot easier to swallow.
This offer is bi-annual so you will get the $50 credit twice a year for the total of $100 a year. This appears to us to be a new type of benefit that we may be seeing more of from the credit card industry. The offer seems like a coupon designed to draw customers to Saks instead of a true card benefit, but a $100 credit is $100 in your wallet so were not going to kick. As a matter of fact we may send a note to AmEx and see if they will try to negotiate a $100 credit with Bass Pro!
Right now you can recapture your $450 annual fee by using the $100 Saks credit along with the $200 Airline fee credit and the $200 Uber credit, with all three of these benefits you could realize a $50 profit. That’s $500 worth of assets you can use to offset the AmEx Platinum’s annual fee every year. 
The AmEx Platinum will also pay for your Global Entry and TSA Pre Check fee a $100 value is also available and if you have not taken advantage of this AmEx Platinum benefit that is another $100 gift from AmEx Platinum. In short the new Saks Fifth Avenue $100 credit makes this card affordable for any traveler that will use the $200 Airline Fee Credit and use UBER’s $200 credit. If you will use these benefits you definitely want this card in your wallet if for no other reason then to get in to the new Centurion Lounges.
